The short version: your files never leave your device. They are converted in your browser and are never sent to this site, to Google or to anyone else. Visits are counted with Google Analytics, to see which tools people use; in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it uses cookies only if you allow it. The site has no accounts and currently shows no ads.
Your files
Files you choose or drop are processed only in your browser, using code the browser downloads from this site. They are not uploaded to this site or to anyone else, and nobody running the site can see them. Converted files are created on your device and saved straight to it.
What is saved on your device
The site keeps a few items in your browser: your light or dark theme, the style you picked in the Style menu, the language you last chose, the last few tools you used (shown on the home page) and your answer to the visitor statistics question. If you play Code Rain, your best scores, your current run and your sound and guide settings are kept too. If you drop files on the home page and then pick a tool, the files are held in your browser’s storage (IndexedDB) for up to two minutes so the tool can open them, and are deleted once it has. The text-recognition tool also stores its language data there, so it does not have to download it again.
This data is kept only in this browser on this device. The cookie policy lists each item.
Visitor statistics (Google Analytics)
File2File.app uses Google Analytics 4, a service of Google, to count visits and learn which tools and pages are useful. For each page you open it records the page address without anything after a question mark or # sign, the page title and the site that linked you here. Google also derives general information from your connection and browser: approximate country and city, device type, browser, operating system, screen size and language. Google uses your IP address to estimate your location and then discards it; Google Analytics does not store IP addresses, and the site never sees them.
Google Analytics never receives your files, their names or contents, the formats you convert between or your settings. Its site search, form interaction and file download tracking, Google signals and all advertising features are turned off, and the data is not shared with Google for advertising.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google Analytics sets cookies only after you choose Allow in the visitor statistics banner. Until then, or if you choose Decline, it sends only cookieless signals without an identifier, which Google uses for aggregate counts. In other countries it sets its cookies when a page loads.
You can change your answer at any time with Privacy choices at the bottom of every page. Choosing Decline also deletes the Google Analytics cookies this site has set.
Google processes this data on behalf of File2File.app under its data processing terms. Data may be transferred to the United States, under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. Visit statistics are kept for two months and then deleted. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
What the site does not do
There are no accounts, sign-in, forms or mailing lists, and the site does not ask for personal details. It does not track which files you convert, and no advertising cookies are set. Apart from Google Analytics, the site loads no third-party scripts or fonts: every other file it uses, including the conversion engines, comes from file2file.app.
Advertising
File2File.app shows no ads at the moment. It loads no advertising scripts, no advertising cookies are set, and no data is shared with advertising networks.
If ads are added later, this policy and the cookie policy will be updated first, and visitors in regions where the law requires it, such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, will be asked for their consent before any advertising cookies are used. Your files will never be shared with advertisers.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services and delivered through its Amazon CloudFront network. Like any web server, it processes technical request data such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver the pages and protect the service, and records it in technical logs kept by the host. This data is not used to identify you and is not combined with other data.
Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and similar laws, you have the right to ask what personal data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to or restrict its use. Your files never reach the site. The only personal data involved in running the site is the technical request data processed by the host and the visitor statistics described above.
Google Analytics cookies are used on the basis of your consent where the law requires it, and you can withdraw that consent at any time with Privacy choices. Hosting logs and statistics without cookies rely on the legitimate interest in running the site securely and knowing which pages are used.
If you want to exercise a right, write to the address below; you will get an answer within the time the law sets, normally one month. You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one in the country where you live.

This policy will be updated whenever anything described here changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
